Abuse

We’re in the future, you and I. We can call it the present all we like, but we made it this far, and it’s 2015. Technology and life have gotten us this far, but there are always things that can prevent us from reaching the Happy New Year. Things like abuse.

It makes me physically ill to hear stories of people enduring harm from others because of whatever reason. You’ve heard the stories, too. Total gut-wretching times. The man who smashes the woman’s face into the wall because he didn’t get what he wants. The bully who destroys the teenage years of their victim, just because that person is a different. The jerk who throws a shopping cart into the rear-bumper of your car and doesn’t sack up enough to admit guilt. These are only a few. But we as humans deserve to hold these people accountable so that instances of this awful behavior do not recur.

Truly, it takes a very insecure person to resort to intimidation, to belittle the very person they’re battering like a kitten does a mouse. These people are criminal and deserve to be taken far away from those that they may harm. Below are a list of resources (click any of them) to get started. Everyone deserves a good future, and a safe one at that.

Domestic Abuse Women’s Network (DAWN)

Rape, Abuse, & Incest National Network (RAINN)

Women’s Shelters (nationwide)
