Internship Opportunity: Spring 2016
Filed in BRAINFACE
Hey everyone, I’m Andrew Flynn. 34 years old, Portland resident by way of Phoenix. I’ve been working as a professional writer since 2006. My cup runneth over with projects, so I am looking for some help so that I may meet my deadlines.
You’re a creative-minded person, ages 18-30, computer literate, good to use MS Office-based applications, understand PicFont (and can show me three different JPEGs that you’ve created that don’t suck), and the Google universe of products (use Apple if you do, I don’t discriminate, but understand that I am not an Apple user at all). College or not, that doesn’t matter to me. What matters is that you’re serious about building things. Those are not serious should not apply.
This is an paid internship for ten hours per week (on Tuesday and Thursday at mutually-agreed upon times) to help me get my projects where I want them to be. Your compensation is $100 for the entire duration of the internship. You will not be writing for me at all. Some light proofreading is involved. Excellent grammar and ability to speak English well are required. Making pretty things on a computer is a big part of this, too. Knowledge of English Literature, popular culture, profanity combinations, and how to make a sandwich helps, too. Basically, I hope your back-catalog has some deep tracks in it.
IS THERE COLLEGE CREDIT TO BE HAD?
I’ll be happy to go to bat for you and get you a media credit or elective credit. Have your instructors/professors/drug dealers talk with me. I’m not in Academia, but I’ve spent a lot of damn time there.
DO I GET PAID CASH MONEY?
As stated above, you get no cash money for helping out. But I’m certain that you’ll get a Coke or two out of it.
WHERE WILL WE WORK?
This is work, you’re right…good mindset. We’ll work based on my schedule at my place near Exit 68 on US-26. The ten hours each week will be on Tuesday & Thursday. Those two days of the week I’m very flexible, so I hope you are too.
ARE YOU AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY INTERNSHIP PROVIDER?
Yes. I do not discriminate. I adhere to EEOC.
DREW, DO YOU HAVE A CRIMINAL RECORD?
No, I’m clean. On top of that, I’m liberal and a professional writer. This is a fun life if you let it be.
HOW DO I CONTACT YOU?
Thanks for reading. I’ll likely end up teaching you some things about writing and publishing in the process..
Interviews for this unpaid internship are from today until January 31st. The position starts no later than April 21, 2016. The internship ends June 30, 2016. Please be advised that the internship may turn into something longer. If it does, you’ll get compensation that garners the envy of your peers.
